News from the UK is that little known independent manufacturer Trident is claiming it will produce the fastest diesel sports car in the world. It’s a brave claim as no-one’s actually driven the car yet and there are some very quick diesel cars out there like those from BMW and Audi.
However, the claimed figures are rather tantilising. Trident claims a top speed of over 305 km/h and a fuel range of 3 200 km. That is enough to drive from Cape Town to Johannesburg and back!
Wild claims, but according to Trident it has “patented a unique way of utilising torque multiplication to improve performance and efficiency, which has been incorporated into all their sports cars”.
These claims are made when the car uses mineral or bio-diesel.
