In the automotive industry, the change to car launches has been noticeable. The 2020 SA Car of the Year (COTY) awards evening was a massive change as there were no people at the event, just pictures of cars.

According to Quickpic, the 59 contender voting selection contained new vehicle ranges introduced to the South African new car market between 1 November 2019 and 1 March 2021.

Members of the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ) had a 4-day period to submit their votes for the 40 COTY Semi-Finalists. Two vehicles tied for the 40th position, so there are 41 Semi-Finalists.

The SAGMJ is proud to announce the semi-finalists for the 2021 SA Car of the Year (COTY) in order.
