Brought to you by the inventor of the first modern kickscooter, the Microlino is said to be the ideal mix between a motorbike and a car. Resembling something very similar to the BMW Isetta of old, the Microlino offers space for “two adults and three beer crates.”
Powered by a 19 kW and 118 Nm electric motor and up to 14 kWh of battery power, the Microlino is capable of a range of up to 230 km thanks to its efficient design and lightweight construction, weighing only 513 kg. It can also be fully charged vai a household plug in just four hours!
IAA Mobility saw the introduction of three different specification options for the Microlino, namely Urban, Dolce and Competizione, as well as updates to the Microlino – now the Microlino 2,0.
Urban follows the philosophy of less is more and is particularly targeted at customers that like an eco-friendly and practical vehicle for their everyday trips. Urban specification is offered in two colours, Santorini White unicolor and Amsterdam Orange dual colour, with a glossy black roof. It features two simplistic interior styles in black and anthracite fabric.
Dolce offers a bold, retro take on the Microlino and comes in 5 colours, Santorini White and Amsterdam Orange, as well as three exclusive colours with a white roof: Paris Mint, Milano Red and Zurich Blue. ‘Retro’ feature front and rear Infinity LED light bars that offer a modern twist on the retro theme. Two interior styles are offered with premium fabric and vegan leather for the seats, dashboard and steering wheel that match the retro exterior colours. As standard, the Microlino Retro is offered with a sunroof, although the coupe roof can be optioned at no cost.
The final specification package to be added to the Microlino range is the Competizione which features modern and futuristic styling, paired with subtle chrome details and matte body colours contrasting the glossy black roof. Gotham Anthracite, London Green and Torino Aluminium, are the three colours offered, all matte and each complemented by a glossy black roof. Vegan leather and premium fabric are available too, and the Competizione features the Infinity LED light bars too, as with the Dolce model.
Aside from the specification offerings, the Micriolino 2,0 offers an increase in power from 12 kW to 19 kW, as well as a 10 per cent increase in energy efficiency. McPherson independent suspension replaces the push-rod suspension setup found upfront and the rigid axle found at the rear Microlino 1,0 and 2,0 now features a soft close function for the door and dual digital displays.
Pricing starts at €12 500 (R218 000) and production is set to start at the end of 2021 at a dedicated factory in Turin, Italy.
