Not many people would be brave enough to take a paintbrush to their car but artist Hanna Schoenwald is not one of them. The German design graduate decided to turn her Porsche 911 art car into actual rolling art.
In typical German fashion, this was not a spur-of-the-moment creation but rather a calculated and planned approach with multiple sketched paper concepts completed and a series of scale design studies replicating Schoenwald’s vision. Watch the development of this Porsche 911 art car here.
The concept follows a similar surface aesthetic of the first iteration of Bugatti’s Chiron Super Sport by series of monotone lineworks simulating light reflections on its bodywork. The 964 generation Carrera 2 boasts a clean, white canvas for the creative to impart her vision onto with paintbrush in hand. The asymmetrical design encompasses every panel of the 90’s Porsche with attention being given to smaller components like the side mirrors as well.
The clean lines of the 964 generation were available in Porsche’s portfolio between 1989 and 1994, initially launching as an all-wheel-drive Carrera 4. The Carrera 2, shown here and owned by Hanna Schoenwald was first born to the world in 1990 with derivatives available in convertible, coupe and Targa body styles.
Closer to home, world renowned artist Nelson Makamo embarked on a creative journey titled ‘My Life in Motion’ where the Pedi artist accredits those closest to him by a sanctioned artistic endeavour of his Porsche 911 Carrera. Albeit this endeavour only used interior and exterior trim pieces as a canvas and not the actual bodywork.
Schoenwald has created her truly own, bespoke art car that adds to the list of Porsche’s that take rolling artwork to the next level.
