Renault South Africa will strengthen its Gordini RS line-up with the addition of the Clio Gordini RS in May. Like its Twingo RS sibling, this hot hatch features the unique blue paint with white racing stripes that featured on the legendary Gordini racing models of yore.
To set it apart from the standard Clio Sport, the Gordini RS gets a more aggressive look and a Gordini inspired interior with the seats covered in blue and black leather, two white stripes on the steering wheel, a Gordini-badged gearlever knob, a blue rev-counter with white surround and a leather-trimmed facia.
The Twingo Gordini RS did not receive a power boost over the standard RS model, and neither does the Clio. Power comes from a 2,0-litre petrol engine that pushes out 148 kW and 215 N.m of torque. Performance should be similar to the Clio Sport with a zero to 100 km/h sprint time of around 7,8 seconds.
More information will be available when the Clio Gordini RS undergoes its official launch at this year’s Knysna Hillclimb.
