Details of the 2013 Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo have emerged ahead of the car’s official Geneva unveiling and it makes for compelling reading.
The third generation of Alpina’s BMW 3 Series-based B3 plays host to a 3,0-litre twin-turbo, straight-six engine developing 310 kW between 5 500 and 7 000 r/min.
This engine is coupled with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and will propel the B3 Bi-Turbo from standstill to 100 km/h in just 4,0 seconds.
Despite being considerably more powerful than the unit powering its 265 kW, E90-based, predecessor the updated engine is reportedly more fuel-efficient, returning a claimed average fuel consumption figure of 7,9 litres/100 km.
This engine is coupled with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and will propel the B3 from standstill to 100 km/h in just 4,0 seconds.
Although the single image that has leaked onto the ‘web doesn’t give away anything other than the aggressive frontal treatment, it’s likely that the new B3 Bi-Turbo will feature a sporty body kit and sizeable, model-specific rims.
Details regarding the next-generation BMW M3 are still scarce. Some sources believe that the car will be powered by a twin-turbo 3,0-litre, straight-six engine producing around 335 kW, while others suggest that the new M3’s outputs will not differ greatly from those of the current car. In either case, the new car will reportedly weigh around 100 kg lighter than it’s predecessor, so the performance on offer could be blistering.
