The Audi Q4 e-tron SUV and Sportback have been revealed two years after the concept broke cover. The newest members in the e-tron family will be Audi’s entry-point to its electrified line-up, for now as it competes in the A+ segment.
Three drive variants are available for the Audi Q4 e-tron. The entry-level 35 e-tron model uses a rear-wheel drive configuration that receives 125 kW and 310 N.m of torque from a 52 kWh battery, giving it a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 9,0 seconds and a top speed of 160 km/h. The flagship 50 e-tron derivative produces 220 kW and 460 N.m of torque from a 77 kWh battery to all four wheels. In here, you can reach 0-100 km/h in 6,2 seconds until you hit a top speed of 180 km/h. At the middle of the range sits a Q4 45 e-tron variant with a 150 kW power output.
Range is quoted at 341 km for the 35 and 520 km for the 50 with a fast charging ability that can restore 130 km of range in 10 minutes.
Providing it with refined and sporty dynamics, the Q4 e-tron has been developed with a torsionally rigid body and high proportion of ultra-high-strength steel in the passenger cell. It’s design is slick through the air as well, with the SUV boasting a drag coefficient of 0,28 and the Sportback 0,26. The turbulator edge on side mirror housing has been optimised for aerodynamics and aeroacoustics.
Dynamic prowess is provided by a low centre of gravity with the battery pack placed at the floor. The Audi Q4 e-tron rides on a front MacPherson and rear multilink suspension, accentuated by an optional sports suspension (standard on the S line), progressive steering (standard on the Quattro), Audi drive select (standard on the Sportback) and active damping (optional for all models).
Things are sophisticated in the cabin as well. From the driver’s seat, a fully digital operating 10,25-inch display for the driver is fitted as standard. Optionally, this can be upgraded to the virtual cockpit. As standard, the dashboard sports the 10,1-inch MMI touchscreen infotainment system but the 11,6-inch version will be optionally available towards the end of the year. The highlight within the cabin is the augmented reality heads-up display with floating navigation symbols for easier route guidance.
The driver also has access to a new steering wheel generation with backlit touch surfaces for sliding and scrolling. For the first time, the steering wheel rim is flattened at the top and bottom by request.
The Q4 e-tron will feature an Edition One model at launch which can be had in Geyser Blue or Typhoon Gray. Both models are fitted with the S line package, dark privacy glazing for the rear windows, black attachments, Matrix LED headlamps with darkened taillamps and a set of bronze 21-inch Aero design wheels.
Local introduction and pricing for the Audi Q4 e-tron range is yet to be announced.
