The Audi Q4 was widely expected to join the Ingolstadt-based brand’s range by 2019. But now, according to a new report out of Germany, the coupe-like SUV will not arrive until at least 2021.
The reason for the delay? The Volkswagen Group’s engineers have reportedly been forced to focus their time and energy on fixes for the engines at the centre of the diesel emissions scandal.
“We are behind in time planning with the next stage of vehicles to be based on the MQB architecture,” an Audi insider told German publication Auto Motor und Sport.
According to the report, the launch of the next-generation A3 will also be delayed (until 2019).
Inspired by the Audi TT Offroad concept revealed back in 2014 and pictured above, the new Q4 is expected to be offered with a fresh range of powerplants, some of which are reportedly still under development.
