Just when you thought that the seemingly ubiquitous split-headlight design was to be limited to new BMW’s, Rolls-Royces and a slew of Hyundai’s and Kia’s, some spy shots of the upcoming Q6 E-Tron suggest otherwise. Oh dear…
Motor1.com reports that despite a year of Audi Q6 E-Tron spy shots, very little was given away in terms of the vehicle’s design. A full camouflage wrap is to be thanked for that; however some fresh spy shots reveal the front of the all-electric crossover without any camo for the first time.
Featuring a rather large, closed off silver grille with a prominent Audi logo and a front-facing camera below it, the Q6’s fascia is very modern Audi EV, as is to be expected. Below the silver grille is an opening which likely houses a number of driver-assistance sensors. Flanking the grille are a pair of daytime running lights, below which are the vehicle’s headlights.
Other than that, the rest of the vehicle is covered by a black sheet. The rear of the crossover is rumoured to be very similar to that of the E-Tron GT. This means that the Q6 E-Tron will feature a full-width taillight which will of course do a zhuzh sort of light show thing every time the car is locked and unlocked.
While no details about the crossover have been released just yet, rumours suggest that there will be an RS variant which will likely offer around 447 kW from a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup. Of course, there will be a range of options available with varying outputs and battery packs, as well as single- and dual-motor setups.
The Audi Q6 E-Tron will ride on Audi and Porsche’s co-developed Premium Platform Electric architecture (PPE) which will also underpin the upcoming all-electric Porsche Macan. While it is likely that the two crossovers will share much of their mechanical componentry, styling will be the big differentiator of the two. Set to debut this year, the Q6 E-Tron will for part of Audi’s plan to introduce 20 EVs by 2025.
