Bentley’s Flying Spur and Bentayga models are to receive a new “cutting-edge onboard entertainment system with integrated Bentley Rear Entertainment available as an option. Offering the latest connected technology, the system is highly flexible, paired with class-leading Naim for Bentley audio which is already available in both models.
Much like an Apple TV or Chromecast system, the new Bentley system offers a ‘bring your own device’ concept which allows customers to stream content from their own smartphone, computer or tablet directly to the Bentley Rear Entertainment system, without the need to connect by cable.
The system incorporates two 1920 x 1080 HD 10.1-inch removable touchscreen tablets attached to the back of the front seats and feature crystal clear graphics for clear viewing in all lighting conditions.
Audio from the Bentley Rear Entertainment system can be streamed via Bluetooth to either headphones supplied with the car or the customers’ own Bluetooth headphones. Sound can also be streamed directly to the Flying Spur or Bentayga’s Naim audio system. As a side note, this system in the Flying Spur features a colossal 2 200 Watts of power.
In order to ensure future-proofing of the system, over-the-air software updates are available as and when new features are released.
Additionally, both removable touchscreens are equipped with an HDMI port, which allows the use of media devices such as an Amazon Firestick, xBox or Playstation console. The now-standard USB Type C port acts as a charging point for mobile devices, as well as back-up for software updates should the OTA system be unavailable due to connectivity issues. A headphone jack is also provided, as an alternative to Bluetooth connectivity.
Rather cleverly, a microphone is housed in the rear of each screen which monitors audio coming from the Bentayga or Flying Spur’s Naim audio system and ensures that this is always synchronised with the media played on the Bentley Rear Entertainment system.
