If you think that red goes with black, then you might want to check out BMW’s new X5 and X6 Black Vermilion editions, revealed in Germany on Monday.
The two new editions are finished in a Frozen Black metallic special paint finish from BMW Individual, which is matched by a M high-gloss Shadow Line exterior package. This is contrasted by red vertical grille slats as well as high-gloss red M Sport brake callipers. In the X6 version, this is further accentuated by the ‘Iconic Glow’ illuminated grille effect. Buyers can also look forward to M headlights Shadow Line with BMW laser light, including accented lighting with blue X signature. Both Black Vermilion edition models roll on Orbig Grey matt 22-inch double-spoke alloy wheels with mixed tyres.
As with the exterior, the cabin is mainly finished in black, with red contrast stitching distinguishing the Merino Black leather upholstered seats. You’ll also find red accents on the rear seats as well as the edging of the floor mats. Other distinguishing features include M Alcantara Anthracite roof lining, an Edition logo on the cupholder cover, Fineline Black inlays with aluminium and crystal-effect glass trim on the gear selector and iDrive controller.
South African availability of the new BMW Black Vermilion editions has yet to be confirmed, however it’s worth noting that on the European market the new editions are available with all of the engine options offered in the regular (as in non-M) X5 and X6 models.
