BMW’s most powerful road-going M car, the BMW XM Label Red, will serve as the safety car for the MotoGP 2024 season and is outfitted with a grey livery and Recaro racing seats.

The BMW XM safety car is the first vehicle which relies on an electric drive system to serve as a safety car for one of the premiere racing events in motorcycle racing. As a reminder, the Label Red offshoot is a more power-laden and capable derivative of the regular BMX XM. Although relying on the same 4,4-litre twin-turbocharged V8, the Label Red is powered by an uprated version, which produces a total of 550 kW and 1,000 N.m, fed to all four wheels via the firm’s xDrive system.

The XM Label Red relies on BMW’s M Active Professional as standard and is comprised of electronically controlled dampers and an active stabilisation system. Furthermore, stopping power is the total of the efforts from the Label Red’s six-piston, fixed callipers on the front and single-piston floating callipers on the rear.
The XM Label Red safety car is characterised by the addition of Recaro racing seats, front flashing lights, a safety car roof bar, a front splitter, a six-point seat harness, and a fire extinguisher. The XM Label Red safety car will make its first race debut in March next year at the opening round of the 2024 season in Qatar.
