One thing’s for sure, Brabus doesn’t believe in modest power hikes. The Mercedes-AMG E63 S was already a beast of a sedan with its outputs of 450 kW and 850 N.m, but with the Brabus 800 the German tuner has taken things to the next level, and then some.
Think 588 kW at 6600 rpm and 1000 N.m from 3600 revs.
To achieve this Brabus engineers replaced the two turbochargers that are fitted to the 4-litre AMG V8, with upgraded blowers that allow a boost pressure of up to 1.6 bar. The German tuner has worked its magic on the engine management software too, while also finding the time to bolt on a Brabus high-performance exhaust system with electronic sound management.
The powertrain upgrades make the E63 S four-tenths of a second quicker from zero to 100 km/h, which now comes up in three seconds flat, but the top speed remains electronically limited to 300 km/h.
On a more functional note, Brabus has also developed software to permanently disable the car’s idle-stop system.
Customers who want to sharpen up the dynamics can opt for a Brabus Sports Unit for the air suspension system, which lowers the car by an extra 10 or 20 millimetres depending on the drive mode selected.
Further aiding its handling cause is a set of 21-inch Brabus ‘Platinum Edition’ alloy wheels, which are pinstriped to match the red accents on the grille. Because, let’s face it, Brabus likes to show off its brawn. Customers can distinguish their Brabus 800 further with a range of naked-carbon aerodynamic components, which can be ordered with either high-gloss or matte coating. A front spoiler lip and boot spoiler are also on the Brabus 800 stylistic menu, as is a carbon diffuser insert.
To make the cabin feel extra special, customers can opt for an almost “limitless” array of leather and Alcantara upholstery options.
Other décor comes in the form of wood or genuine carbon inlays as well as stainless steel scuff plates with backlit Brabus logos that change colour in accordance with the mood lighting hue selected.
Oh, and if a sedan is not on your wishlist, Brabus is also happy to build you an 800 in wagon guise.
