It was inevitable, wasn’t it? The folks over at Brabus, the German tuning firm that specialises in Mercedes-Benz, have turned their attention to the X-Class, giving the double-cab more attitude, a sleeker cabin and added grunt. Yes, Brabus now offers a bakkie with a sprinkling of extra performance...

The tuner says its engineers developed an “OEM quality” body kit for the X-Class, with the majority of the special add-on components applied to the pick-up’s face. You’ll likely also notice the integrated LED daytime-running lights and the light-bar mounted on the roof. Round back, you’ll find the obligatory quartet of tailpipes, suggesting that this particular bakkie has undergone a touch of under-bonnet fettling.

Interestingly, Brabus says it developed the dual-tone “Monoblock X” seven-spoke alloys specifically for the X-Class, with each 20-inch wheel wrapped in 285/45 R 20 high-performance rubber. Inside, Brabus offers a variety of options, from stainless scuff plates and aluminium pedals to fine leather upholstery and Alcantara in “any desired colour”.

While the world waits for the flagship, V6-powered X350d to arrive, Brabus says it has a solution for those looking for a little more oomph than the standard X250d offers. Indeed, the tuner’s light performance upgrade hikes the Nissan-sourced 2,3-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel’s peak figures by 15 kW and 60 N.m, for maximum totals of 155 kW and 510 N.m.

Naturally, the tuner says it is already developing a performance upgrade for the upcoming X350d…
