Top Gear host Chris Evans has quit the show after police reports revealed that he is being investigated over claims that he’d groped a woman (a former colleague) in the 1990’s.
His decision also came after just one series in charge of the BBC2 motoring show where ratings dropped significantly and news reports revealed a sour off-screen relationship between co-host Matt LeBlanc and Chris Evans.
According to the Mirror.uk former Top Gear executive producer Lisa Clark wants to get back in the game now that Chris Evans has left.
“Lisa -“ who worked with Evans on The Big Breakfast -“ was behind the inspired signing of Friends star Matt LeBlanc .
But she left the troubled motoring show in December amid claims she could no longer work with "control freak" Evans,” said the MirrorUK.
On Monday Evans announced on Twitter that he’d stepped down, saying that he’d given it his best shot:
Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that’s not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best.
