Performance Centre has confirmed the 2021 Roush Mustang will hit the market in the second quarter of the year, offered with a staggering 578 kW.
Though pricing has yet to be announced, we do know each Roush Mustang is based on a Ford Mustang GT equipped with the naturally aspirated 5,0-litre V8 petrol engine. The eight-cylinder unit gains a Roush TVS2650 supercharger, which helps raise its peak outputs from the standard figures of 331 kW and 529 N.m to a heady 560 kW and 910 N.m.
This upgrade includes a “number of other Roush components”, such as two auxiliary coolers mounted beneath the vehicle (a differential cooler and automatic transmission cooler).
Peak power can furthermore be hiked to 578 kW thanks to the addition of a new air filter, an upgraded supercharger belt, additional tuning of the direct injection and “optimised” calibration of the ECU.
Other updates include high-performance Continental ExtremeContact Sport tyres (wrapped round 20-inch “Jet Black” wheels or “Agate Grey” forged wheels), Roush-calibrated MagneRide adaptive suspension and the R9 aero kit.
The latter kit includes heat-extracting bonnet vents, fender vents, high-flow upper and lower grilles, Roush chin spoiler, functional aero corner pockets, rear aerofoils and a blacked-out rear decklid panel that sits above the quad black-tip performance exhaust.
Performance Centre says it will also offer a “full set” of Roush interior updates, including custom gauge cluster overlays, illuminated door sills and a Roush toolkit, along with Roush-branded leather sports seats, Roush-embossed floor mats and a Roush key fob. Every new Roush Mustang also carries a certificate of authenticity with a serial plaque on the facia.
In addition, Performance Centre will offer the “Podium Package” as an option, which adds an active carbon-fibre rear wing, a Brembo brake upgrade and Roush billet pedals.
“The 2021 Roush Mustang exceeds every expectation of a high-performance muscle car and leverages a mix of motorsport heritage that adds a new dimension to this iconic vehicle,” says Andrew Mtsweni, marketing manager at Performance Centre.
“Being able to offer customers this latest Roush conversion in South Africa as part of the Mustang’s global presence is always an opportunity that our passionate team relishes.”
