What these cyclists found in the sewer will make you appreciate life

Two cyclists uncovered an abandoned baby down a 2.5 metre sewer on Sunday after hearing the baby scream. According to Buzzfeed, the baby is said to have survived for several days in the sewer drain in Sydney, Australia, before being discovered.

The cyclist and his child could not lift the concrete lid off the sewer, so they called the police for help. The critical baby was found in what seemed to be a hospital blanket and according to the Washington Post, a 30-year-old woman has since been arrested and is facing attempted murder charges.

”No-one in their right mind would ever come across something like this," the  cyclist  said.

It is unclear how the baby survived for so many days without food or water. Authorities say the baby would not have lasted one more day in the Australian heat.

"There would still have to be some concerns about the baby," gynaecologist, obstetrician and former president of the Australian Medical Association, Andrew Pesce told the Washington Post.

The baby has since been taken to a children’s hospital in Sydney where he was treated for malnutrition and dehydration. He is reportedly in a serious but stable condition.
