David Hasselhoff is selling his iconic Knight Rider car

Fans of the TV series Knight Rider with money to spare are in for a treat, as David Hasselhoff is planning to auction his personal Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT) car at the end of January.

The modified 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was a centrepiece if the series. This artificially intelligent car was more than a robot and even had sentience. It was well-known for its cheeky responses to Hasselhoff’s character and the two were a crime-fighting team.

The auction will be held by LiveAuctioneers, on Saturday, January 23. The item listing says that the car is fully functional, so would not just be a showpiece and is in pretty good condition.

The current bids are already up to $475,000 under the pre-auction bidding.

Whoever ends up winning the bid on the car will have to pay for the shipment from the UK where it is currently homed. The auction house has also confirmed that if the hammer price exceeds 25% of the reserve price David Hasselhoff will deliver it himself. This is already on the cards as the pre-bidding has the car well above the pre-sale high.
