Travel gear specialists Db have partnered up with Norwegian former World Cup alpine ski racer Aksel Lund Svindal and Porsche to create the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo x Db Discoverberry Bundle.
It is essentially a $250 000 (R4 045 000) package deal that includes a Strøm 2385-litre Rooftop Tent, an actual Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, Strøm 60-litre Roller Bag Raspberry Edition, Strøm 30-litre Backpack Raspberry Edition, and a camping kit.
The Discoveryberry Taycan Cross turismo has been modified slightly with all-terrain tires, a rally-style light setup, and off course the matching Burgundy full-size rooftop tent. The idea behind the bundle is to be able to explore the great outdoors far from polluted city air in what is arguable one of the most practical and desirable EV’s out there.
Db’s website boldly claims, “This electric off-road car and streamlined roof-top tent inspired by the award-winning & bestselling Strøm Family design will make you never want a proper house again.”
For those who need a quick refresher, the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is an all-electric off-road focused station wagon based on the Porsche Taycan. Power comes courtesy of an 800V system, as well as the standard two-deck performance battery plus which contains 33 cell modules consisting of 12 individual cells each for a total of 396 cells.
Total capacity comes to 93,4 kWh and power is sent to two permanently excited synchronous electric motors, one at each axle. Power outputs vary from 360 kW in the Taycan 4S Cross Turism to 460 kW (560 kW on overboost) in the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo. Luggage space offered is in excess of 1 200 litres and ground clearance is as much as 180 mm in its highest setting with the Off-Road Package optioned.
