The South African UFC fighter took to Instagram to share his thoughts on Mercedes-AMG G63 and G580 with EQ Technology which were tested ahead of the official South African launch. Praising the G580 in particular, Stillknocks dubbed the zero-emissions model as “One of the best 4x4s I’ve ever driven”. Considering its specs, it’s easy to see why. The G580 is powered by four electric motors —one at each wheel — for a total power output of 432 kW and a staggering 1 165 N.m of torque with even more available in low range mode. The emissions-free G-Class features ‘G-Turn’ tank-turn functionality and a bespoke chassis setup, offering serious off-road capability. In South Africa, the all-electric G carries a price tag of R4 647 456.

By contrast, the updated Mercedes-AMG G63 sticks with a traditional and purist-friendly 4.0-litre V8 heart. As a reminder, the twin-turbocharged petrol unit churns out 430 kW and 850 N.m for a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.4 seconds. In addition, thanks to the incorporation of mild-hybrid tech, an additional 15 kW is available for short durations.
