Italian restomod startup Eccentrica Cars has recently revealed its modern interpretation of the Lamborghini Diablo, bringing this iconic supercar into the present era after a hiatus of two decades.
Originally produced from 1990 to 2001, the Diablo remains a highly debated model, as it was developed during Lamborghini’s ownership by Chrysler. Eccentrica’s prototype successfully captures the essence of the original Diablo while incorporating contemporary advancements for an enhanced driving experience. Retaining the car’s distinctive proportions, the restomod utilises composite materials and a reinforced steel tubular chassis. Inside, the interior seamlessly merges 1990’s minimalism with cutting-edge mechanics.
Under the metal, the updated Diablo boasts an upgraded 5,7-litre V12 engine, now delivering nearly 400 kW and 602 N.m. According to Eccentrica, their version of the Diablo achieves a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 3,5 seconds and a top speed of 335 km/h. Additional modifications include a new Capistro exhaust system featuring aluminium tailpipes, as well as a bespoke Brembo braking system with six-piston monoblocks and slotted discs, ensuring a shorter braking distance compared to the stock Diablo.

The Eccentrica Diablo also showcases 19-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres, suitable for both track and road use. As for its appearance, the Diablo retains the original windshield, while the front fascia takes inspiration from the Diablo GT, featuring concealed headlights. An aerodynamic fin enhances the side profile, reducing drag and adding a touch of style. The rear design departs significantly from the stock model, incorporating a carbon fibre bumper, prominent air intakes, and modern LED headlights. Completing the visual transformation is a 3D-printed Eccentrica logo.
Inside the cabin, the Eccentric Diablo embraces a horology-inspired design, combining classic luxury with a contemporary touch. Many interior plastics have been replaced with modern materials, including cool blue Alcantara and suede. The retro-themed instrument cluster perfectly complements the gated gear lever and high-quality control switches.
Following its unveiling in Milan, the Eccentrica prototype is set to make its debut at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed in England alongside other Lamborghini models. This event will be followed by a tour across the United States, making stops at Monterey Car Week, New York, and Miami. These appearances aim to generate interest in the prototype and Eccentrica Cars, a San Marino-based startup with ambitions to lead the exotic car restomod industry.
