It would seem as though Kia are treating us to a bit of a new vehicle onslaught, with desirable, high-tech, zero-emissions vehicles being the current order of the day.
With the Kia EV6 having recently wowed everyone with its interesting looks, impressive outputs and usable range, the Korean brand has now given us a glimpse into their all-electric SUV, the Concept EV9, at AutoMobility LA.
Kia makes it known that both the EV6 and EV9 are dedicated EVs, with no internal-combustion versions in the line-up at all. The SUV has been built on the company’s advanced Electric Global Modular Platform, E-GMP, with the design of the vehicle having been inspired by nature while using upcycled materials developed from waste which has been deposited into the fragile marine ecosystem.
In addition to its inspired design, EV9’s tech claims to make light work of traffic jams, while also being perfectly suited to an adventurous jaunts and “leisure pursuits” with the family, away from the city.
Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design Centre said, “The Kia Concept EV9 is yet another important marker for us in what has been an incredible journey since the start of the year. Having made our intentions clear – to become a global leader in sustainable mobility solutions – today we are proud to show the world our all electric SUV concept, which fuses together an advanced zero-emissions powertrain, a cutting-edge exterior design and a contemporary and innovative tech-based interior space.”
The EV9 has been designed with Kia’s new ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy in mind, with a focus on being ‘Bold for Nature.’ Of course, ‘Bold for Nature’ could mean many interesting and exciting things, but the focus here is on being adventurous, outgoing and recreational, its proportions help outlining a three-row SUV footprint that signifies a vehicle that is highly capable, practical and ready for action.
With models like the EV6 and EV9, it would seem as though Kia are well on their way to achieving their goal of carbon neutrality throughout their value chain by 2045, as announced on the 11th of November 2021.
