We all know that the facelifted 3 Series is on the way and with the sedan and of course the M3 Touring variant having been spotted in spy shots, another 3 Series has been spied wearing sport M Performance parts.
Looking smart in white, the prototype sports a set of 20-inch M Performance alloy wheels a la 330is, shod in performance tyres. While the front and rear ends are camouflaged, one can make out the revised LED head- and taillights, as well as redesigned bumpers.
As with the outgoing model, the facelifted 3 series or “LCI” in BMW-speak will feature bumper extensions, side mouldings, side sills, a spoiler lip and a rear diffuser made of carbon fibre. Add these to the M-Sport 3 Series’ sportier bumpers and larger, blacked out intakes and you have what promises to be a striking yet more affordable version of the divisive-looking but undeniably brilliant BMW M3.
In terms of the cabin, the facelifted 3 Series will offer minor visual changes, as well as more technology such as a 12,3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14,9-inch touchscreen which will house the latest iDrive 8 infotainment system.
In the powertrain department, slight improvements will likely lower emissions and increase performance on certain models. A fully-electric 3 Series – sharing its underpinnings with the i4 – will be a sensible and likely addition to the range. The updated 3 Series is likely to be unveiled before the end of 2022.
