Toyota has detailed a special Horizon-badged version of its Land Cruiser 200 in Australia, seemingly positioning it as a farewell to the current generation of the big off-roader.
Of course, earlier reports have suggested Toyota will cease production of the V8-powered Land Cruiser 200 by March 2021, with the next-gen Land Cruiser 300 tipped to hit initial markets the very next month.
Based on the range-topping Sahara trim level offered in Australia, the Horizon special-edition model boasts what Toyota describes as a “raft of styling treatments that deliver a premium aesthetic”. Just 400 units will be built.
So, what sets the Land Cruiser 200 Horizon apart? Well, it gains a model-specific grille with a dark finish, as well as black headlamp surrounds and smoked-chrome foglamp bezels.
Inside, you’ll find black semi-aniline leather-accented seats with unique stitching and the “Land Cruiser” logo embossed into the backrest. Additional features for this model include a heated steering wheel, black interior trim and black headliner, plus chrome accents and “premium” stitching on the leather-accented door panels.
The Horizon furthermore features front and rear puddle lamps that project the “Land Cruiser” logo onto the ground.
As with the model on which it’s based, the Horizon is powered by the Japanese firm’s 200 kW/650 N.m 4,5-litre V8 twin-turbodiesel engine, driving all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
