Following the release of the 488 GTB, and our launch report of the 488 Spider, Ferrari has now released its two racing cars based on the 488.
Called the 488 GTE and 488 GT3, both cars were shown at the Mugello race circuit in Italy as part of the the Finali Mondiali 2015.
Although the road car develops 493 kW from the turbocharged 3,9-litre, V8 engine, the GT3 version is limited to 404 kW, while the GTE develops only 357 kW. The GTE features a reworked engine with a larger 3 996 cm3 capacity.
As expected from a race car, there are additional aerodyanmic elements, for example the rear adjustable wing, diffuser and winglets.
According to Ferrari’s GT and Corse Clienti racing director Antonello Coletta, the company plans to manufacture 150 cars over a course of four to five years.
