Ferrari ‘flattered’ by ‘imitation’ from likes of Aston Martin…

The Vanquish Vision concept that Aston Martin revealed at Geneva previews the Gaydon-based firm’s first series production mid-engined supercar. Does that worry Ferrari? Well, seemingly not.

The British brand’s mid-engined supercar is set to take on the new Ferrari F8 Tributo (itself replacing the 488 GTB), with Aston Martin saying its newcomer will compete in “one of the most hotly contested market sectors in the automotive world”, which it admits is “one traditionally defined by Italian supercar-makers”.

Speaking to Autocar, however, Ferrari CEO Louis Camillieri claimed the Prancing Horse brand was “flattered” by “imitation” from brands such as Aston Martin.

“Imitation is the best form of flattery. We’re flattered,” Camillieri told the British publication.

Aston Martin earlier said the production version of its new supercar would employ a new V6 engine and be underpinned by a bespoke bonded aluminium chassis.
