Another week, another sighting of the upcoming Ferrari Purosangue. The bulkier addition to the Italian stallion’s stable has consistently found itself in the limelight as a result of constant leaks and rumors floating around the internet.
The automotive paparazzi are always on the prowl for a photo opportunity and the 2022 Ferrari Purosangue, the luxury automaker’s first dip into the SUV market, was spotted a little under a year ago cloaked in industry-standard camouflage. Since then there have been numerous appearances with each capturing more and more detail. The infamous attention-grabbing leak that surfaced earlier this year revealed an unsheathed Purosangue resting within a production facility. Little under a month ago, we were treated to an official teaser by Maranello, too.
Surprisingly, the larger Italian stallion was spotted in a fairly “revealing” outfit. Unlike previous prototypes spotted in and around Maranello, these spy shots capture the car in an outfit that allows us to fawn over the curves and lines of the upcoming SUV. Based on the shots, it would be safe to assume that the final product may well retain a lot of the design features of the Purosangue concept. A low-slung stance coupled with a muscular body reminiscent of the firm’s signature styling is an apparent feature of the covered-up SUV.
Particularly, protruding rear haunches and equally protruding front fenders give it a very muscular appearance, coupled with an elegant front end and short rear overhangs. The squinting lights and large front intakes remind has that this is a modern Ferrari, harking back to a few predecessors.
In true Ferrari fashion, certain details have been kept under lock and key – all we can do is speculate about what power plant the firm’s first 4-door SUV will have. We have already reported on possible power plants that the Purosangue may feature, options which include V56, V6 and V12 engines. Whether or not it will feature a pure ICE or a hybrid powertrain is unknown, although the rumour mill suggests that a PHEV is on the cards.
We’ll only receive a full reveal later this year, however even the reveal date has not been made available to the public just yet. We’ll just have to wait for another, slightly more revealing teaser to whet our appetites.
