It isn’t much of a secret, the Fiat Multipla was, at least when it debuted, considered to be the ugly duckling of the MPV segment. Never designed to be a sleek and sexy people mover, Fiat’s attempts were centred around practicality and interior spaciousness, resulting in its quirky exterior styling. Celebrated for its practicality and not its aesthetics, perhaps it was simply ahead of its time…
An independent digital designer by the name of Marco Maltese drew inspiration from this model for his latest project, digitally envisioning a modern-day iteration for the electric age. Dubbed the “Re.Multipla,” Maltese’s creation pays homage to the original Fiat Multipla’s distinctive design while incorporating contemporary elements and an electric powertrain.

The Re.Multipla maintains the original’s split-profile design, with updated bodywork featuring a sharper rear greenhouse and sculpted lines. Enhanced by larger wheels and a lower stance, it exudes a sporty demeanour. Notable design changes include slimmer Y-shaped LED lights replacing the signature lower-mounted units and protruding round headlights. The inclusion of slim door handles and pronounced rear fenders adds to its unique aesthetic. Further inspection would also allude to conventionally opening front doors while the rear seems to be a coach door, similar to four-door Rolls-Royce models.
While interior renderings were not provided, the layout likely mirrors the original Multipla’s unconventional two-row, six-seater configuration, leveraging the spaciousness of its wide, boxy greenhouse. Although specifics about the powertrain were not detailed, Maltese envisions the Re.Multipla with a floor-mounted battery pack and electric motors, aligning with its character and potentially offering impressive performance.
