This Florida based Jaguar I-Pace is reportedly the fourth of its kind to catch alight with an exact cause yet to be determined.
With the incident taking place in mid-June, the latest EV to be embroiled in some controversy is this Florida based Jaguar I-Pace. The midsummer heat of the tropical American state isn’t believed to be the cause of the blame since this is reportedly the fourth such fire for the model to happen globally.
As can be seen in the images, the Florida based Jaguar I-Pace experienced its demise in a clear stretch of suburban road but that is because owner Gonzalo Salazar promptly moved it from its garage parking bay while it was charging after he noticed smoke billowing from its greenhouse. Having not done this, his entire house risked the same fate in a rapidly escalating fire that engulfed the entire EV in a short period of time.

Not much remained in the aftermath of the fire that emergency crews managed to subdue with great difficulty. Requiring a special fire suppression foam to completely extinguish the car, it shouldn’t have taken the forensic team from the insurance company to declare the vehicle as a complete wreckage since only the front end and wheels vaguely remain. Thereafter, Jaguar removed the I-Pace to conduct an examination and determine what may have caused this misfortune however no hypotheses have been presented yet.
The vehicle owner mentions that Jaguar haven’t taken responsibility for the spontaneous blaze and haven’t been of great help in the aftermath of the incident either. Considering a similar incident occured to an I-Pace in Hungary in October last year, Jaguar’s findings might deem a recall for problematic battery cells but this is all speculative.
