Earlier this month, a representative of Ford North America said that there was a strong case for a small Ford Bantam-like bakkie for the South African market. This statement came after it was revealed that the Maverick has been a massive success sin its local market.
We now have some idea of what a product like this could look like thanks to digital artist X-Tomi who has used the design of the recently updated Ford Focus Active Wagon as a base. The one-tonner adopts the plastic cladding, alloy wheels, raised suspension and anti-scuff plating from its donor car. The shortened roof still retains the roof-rails as well.
What’s new on this Ford Bantam design is the bed area, of which no view of the rear is given but we can see that it is protected with cladding as well. The finishing touch of the design is the Active badge applied to the front fender as seen on the original model.
