Fresh Mercedes-AMG G63 performance upgrade takes it to 1 000 N.m!

It seems that the new-generation Mercedes-AMG G63 continues to capture the attention of tuners. The latest company to reveal its performance upgrades for Affalterbach’s iconic SUV is German firm Wheels and More.

Now equipped with larger turbochargers and an uprated exhaust system, replete with downpipes and a backpressure-monitored flap, the 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine employed by the standard G63 (which CAR magazine tested earlier in 2019) has been modified to produce a whopping 574 kW and 1 000 N.m of torque.

Compared with the standard outputs of 430 kW and 850 N.m, the upgrade adds 144 kW and 150 N.m, respectively. Interestingly, the tuner claims its version of the G63 consumes “up to” 1,0 L/100 km less fuel.

In addition, the (hand-made) stainless steel exhaust arrangement, weighing “approximately” 30 percent less than the stock item, provides the package with a roaring soundtrack. Furthermore, a “newly developed” suspension set-up has been fitted.

Based on the G63 Edition 1, the exterior remains fairly stealthy with the most notable (and seemingly only) revision being the addition of G-Logic 24-inch wheels, looking similar to the 22-inch items they replace, and wrapped in 295/30 rubber at all four corners. Rear tyres measuring 355/25 are also on offer. However, the tuner warns fitting the latter would be to the detriment of “optimum power delivery”.
