The price of both grades of petrol will increase by 81 cents per litre on Wednesday, February 3 according to the latest fuel price adjustments published by the Department of Energy.

There are significant increases across the board and from Wednesday, fuel will be priced as follows:

-” Petrol 95 (unleaded and lead-replacement) increases by 81 cents per litre.

-” Petrol 93 (unleaded and lead-replacement) increases by 81 cents per litre.

-” Diesel 0.05% increases by 58 cents per litre.

-” Diesel 0.005% increases by 59 cents per litre.

-” Illuminating Paraffin increases by 59 cents per litre.

-” The maximum retail price for LPGAS increases by 193 cents per kilogram.

The Department said the increases in price are a result of an increase in the average international product prices for Petrol, Diesel and Illuminated Paraffin between December 31 and January 28.

The Rand depreciated against the US Dollar during the period under review, on average, when compared to the previous period,” said the department.

“This led to a higher contribution to the Basic Fuel Prices on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 5.83 c/l, 5.79 c/l and 5.66 c/l respectively.”

The Slate levy on petrol and diesel remains at 0.00 cents per litre.
