Ever think 390 kW isn’t quite enough power for you? Well, German tuner G-Power agrees and has released the first details of a pair of tuning kits for the new, all-wheel-drive BMW M850i.
While the Autenzell-based tuner has so far released very limited information on the upgrades, it has at least revealed that two software-based power upgrade kits will be offered.
The first pushes the M Performance version of the new 8 Series coupé’s twin-turbo 4,4-litre V8 petrol engine from the stock 390 kW and 750 N.m to an even crazier 456 kW and 850 N.m.
And the second? Well, the stage two package (which also includes new downpipes and catalytic converters) hikes peak outputs to 493 kW and 890 N.m. That’s likely far more than the upcoming M8 will make…
G-Power has not yet released performance claims, but expect the tuned version of the all-wheel-drive coupé to improve markedly on the claimed 3,7-second claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time. We’re guessing the electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h will change, too.
Of course, G-Power isn’t the first German tuner to fettle the M850i, with AC Schnitzer and Manhart revealing their respective upgrades (both including new bodywork and wheels) late in 2018.
[UPDATE: G-Power has now released performance details, claiming the 493 kW version of its tuned M850i can see off the zero to 100 km/h sprint in a mere 3,1 seconds and “reach speeds of more than 320 km/h”.]
