Seat no longer sell vehicles in South Africa – sure, you can service your old Leon, Ibiza or Altea at a Volkswagen dealership, but unfortunately none of their new products are likely to make it to South African shores again.
The Golf R’s Spanish cousin, the Cupra Leon VZ, along with its station wagon Sportstourer sibling, boasts identical 228 kW and 400 Nm figures, however legendary tuning house, ABT Sportsline, have eeked some more power out of the tried and tested EA888 powerplant. With the ABT Power performance upgrade, the ABT Cupra Leon hatchback produces 265 kW while the AWD Sportstourer gets a hike to 272 kW.
In addition to this, however, ABT also offers their suspension springs which lower the vehicles by up to 30 mm all round. 20-inch ABT Sport GR wheels are available, too, in either matte or gloss black.
All of the above can be had separately or as a package which ABT has compiled which amounts to €5 990 (R104 062). In addition to these performance options, ABT has a range of additional options for the Cupra Leon which can be viewed at the ABT Configurator.
