The team at Hennessey Performance Engineering in Sealy, Texas, has shaken its magic stick at yet another Ford product. This time , it’s the Ford F-150. Dubbed the Hennessey Venom 775 F-1250, the goal here was to outpower and outperform the factory Ram TRX.
And so, by nearly doubling the stock F-150’s power, it now has 54 kW more than the TRX. At 929 N.m, it has more torque, too, than the TRX’s 881 N.m. Thanks to its lightweight construction, Hennessey claim it to be lighter, faster, and more capable than the factory TRX.
A huge focus has been placed on the F-150’s 5,0-litre V8 which, in stock form, outputs 300 kW. Thanks to a 3,0-litre twin screw supercharger (yes, that’s just the supercharger) and new intercooler system, as well as upgrades to air filtration, the throttle body, and engine management systems, the V8 now has a whopping 374 N.m more than the stock Ford V8’s 555 N.m.
Thanks to the Ford’s aluminium intensive construction, the F-150 weighs nearly 1 tonne less than the TRX. Add to this the ability of both RWD and 4×4 modes, as well as off-road upgrades such as front and rear Venom bumpers, a front LED bar, 6-inch lift and 20-inch Hennessey wheels and the result is a statement like none other.
“Our dedicated Ford customers have been eager for a showroom stock ‘TRX killer’ since Ram unveiled the truck. Our engineers have delivered with more horsepower, more torque and more capability – I could not be more pleased. Our new Venom 775 F-150 is faster and lighter than the factory TRX, and our order books are filling fast with F-150 fans determined to regain the high-ground,” said John Hennessey, CEO of Hennessey Performance Engineering.
Only 100 of the Ford-based super trucks will be built by HPE in Texas. The result of intensive R&D and decades of expertise, the Venom 775 can sprint from 0-60 mph (97km/h) in just 3,9 seconds, with the all-important ¼ mile sprint taking just 12 seconds flat.
The Venom 775 is backed by Hennessey’s three-year/58 000 km warranty which covers both on and off-road use, which is a relief when one considers that customers tend to spend $90 000-$110 000 (R1,48m-R1,56m) on their Hennessey Venom F-150’s.
