Mercedes-Benz South Africa has released local pricing for the refreshed Mercedes-AMG E63 S sedan.

So, how much will it cost you? Well, pricing for the facelifted E63 S 4Matic+ starts at R2 436 440, which makes it some R228 616 more expensive than the likewise refreshed BMW M5 Competition.

Revealed in June 2020, Affalterbach’s updated super-saloon sticks with its twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8, which delivers an unchanged 450 kW and 850 N.m to all four corners via a nine-speed automatic transmission. As before, this results in a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in a claimed 3,4 seconds and an electronically governed top speed of 300 km/h.

What has changed? Well, in addition to the exterior styling updates, the facelifted E63 S gains Mercedes-Benz’s “widescreen cockpit” arrangement comprising a pair of 12,25-inch displays, along with a new AMG Performance steering wheel with “haptic sensing aids” and the latest MBUX infotainment system featuring AMG-specific functions.

Furthermore, Mercedes-AMG says the “comfort characteristics” of the suspension have been “tangibly increased” thanks to retuning and revised elastokinematics. Due to a special spring-and-damper setup and the adaptive damping system, Benz claims the new three-chamber air suspension system now combines “exemplary driving dynamics” with high levels of refinement and comfort.
