As noted in our coverage of Naamsa’s March 2021 sales report, the automotive industry has experienced an impressive upturn last month after a challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Toyota South Africa reveals that it was one of these manufacturers that translated impressive figures as the first quarter of the year came to a close.
In total, the brand delivered 10 797 units throughout the course of March 2021 which is a 2 082 units up from the 8 715 vehicles sold by the Japanese manufacturer in the corresponding month last year. Toyota South Africa total also accounted for a 24,2 per cent market share out of industry total of 44 217 units sold.
The leader in these figures was the Hilux which recorded a total of 3 941 new units sold. Notable performances in the passenger segment included the all-new Urban Cruiser with 977 units, the Fortuner with 966, Starlet with 721, Corolla Quest with 582 and Agya with 531.
