The BMW 8 Series concept was revealed a little under a year ago and sparked a lot of interest from long-time fans of the iconic E31 of the 1990s. Since then, we’ve seen a Gran Coupe concept and an official M8 GTE race car, the latter of which will be making its debut on racetracks fairly soon. It’s believed that, alongside the debut of the GTE, BMW will unveil the production version of the 8 Series.
According to a bulletin sourced by Bimmerpost, the 8 Series will set the stage at the 24 hours of Le Mans on 15 June 2018, the race debut of the M8 GTE. This information was revealed to a BMW M client advisor, one of five M sales winners to be flown out to France to witness the M8 GTE compete in the 24-hour race.
Confirmed for the 8 Series is BMW M’s twin-turbo 4,4-litre V8. Rumoured to also join the line-up is BMW’s 3,0-litre turbocharged straight-six and its 6,6-litre V12.
