Elegant and composed yet vehemently brutish, the Huracán Tecnica is what one might imagine to be the product were an STO and Evo to bear offspring…
Straddling the line between daily driver and track weapon, Huracán Tecnica could be considered to be Lamborghini’s answer to the 911 GT3, albeit in a completely different package.
Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann proclaimed, “ The Huracán Tecnica condenses Lamborghini’s design and engineering expertise to create the perfect fun-to-drive Huracán, as compelling when driving to the race circuit as it is on the street itself.”
Automobili Lamborghini has assiduously announced new models left and right, despite an overwhelming push towards what one might consider to be the antithesis of the Lamborghini band, electrification. Within the past two years, we’ve seen the revitalisation of the Countach nameplate, the hardcore Huracan STO, and the final hurrah to the iconic Aventador, the Ultimae. And so, the esteemed Huracan nameplate has graced us with its presence once again.
The Tecnica is presented as an evolution of the Huracan identity with an STO sourced naturally aspirated 5,2-litre V10 heart bestowing the rear wheels with a white-knuckle-inducing 470 kW and 565 N.m. While a purely rear-wheel-driven drivetrain might not offer the outright traction of its AWD stablemates, the Tecnica is assisted by Lamborghini’s competent rear-wheel steering architecture as well as a torque vectoring system and fully independent double-wishbone suspension setup. As far as driving assistance systems go, the newest Huracán features the firm’s “Lamborghini Dynamic Veicolo Integrate” (LDVI) which controls every aspect of the car’s dynamic behaviour by integrating vehicle systems and set-up, as well as an updated Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS) management framework.
Automotive sound junkies will revel in the idea of a naturally aspirated ten-cylinder supercar engine with what Lamborghini describe as a “revised exhaust for enhanced engine sound.”
A kerb weight of 1379 kg results in a fairly light supercar with an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 2,15 kg/CV. Lamborghini claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3,2 seconds, although they have made it clear that this variation on the Huracán theme is about far more than outright speed. In tune with its design and driving DNA, the Tecnica features Lamborghini’s Strada, Sport, and Corsa modes which adjust various parameters based on the mode selected by the driver. Aided by a subtle rear wing, the rear gains a 35% increase in rear downforce compared to the Evo RWD with a supposed 20% decrease in drag. The Huracán Tecnica is 6,1 cm longer than the rest of its family, however it will maintain the same height and width dimensions as the Huracán EVO RWD.
The asphalt-hugging body features a slew of minor improvements and changes that result in what Lamborghini describes as a “predatory stance”. A full carbon bonnet and Terzo Millennio black Ypsilon-inspired front bumper can be found upfront while the Tecnica’s body lines and silhouette are reminiscent of the breathtaking Essenza SCV12. The focus has been on improving cooling and airflow resulting in the adoption of myriad cooling methods from improved brake coolant to a slew of air intakes and vents.
There’s no word yet on local availability of the Huracán Tecnica, but it’s likely that a few units will make their way onto local soil.
