Hyundai quietly delivers first official glimpse of new i20 N hot hatch

Hyundai has quietly served up the first official glimpse of its upcoming i20 N, with a silhouette of the hot hatch appearing at the end of a promotional video.

Published on YouTube by Hyundai’s Austrian division, the 26-second clip shows the standard third-generation i20 from various angles. But right at the end of the video, a shot of what must be the new i20 N appears, followed by the words “to be continued”.

Judging by the shadowy teaser (and applying a spot of logic), the new i20 N will boast a more aggressive body kit, including a cheeky rear spoiler. It also appears to be running on very distinctive alloy wheels, while a red stripe has been applied along its side-skirt.

Of course, a prominent automotive digital artist has already released a rendering of the i20 N, with the imagined hot hatch borrowing various cues from the i30 N that recently launched in South Africa.

Expect power for the new i20 N to come from a version of Hyundai’s turbocharged 1,6-litre petrol unit, with its peak output likely to roughly match that of the 147 kW Volkswagen Polo GTI…

[UPDATE: As you can tell from the below, the video has been pulled from YouTube…]
