Hyundai Seven Concept revealed as electric SUV with lounge-like interior
Hyundai currently have a cyberpunk retro-future styling thing going on, with the Ioniq 5, the Staria and now the Seven giving us modern looks, but with retro cues abound.
President and CEO, Hyundai Motor North America, José Muñoz, said, “The SEVEN concept demonstrates Hyundai’s creative vision and advanced technological development for our electrified mobility future.
“Its innovative interior space, eco-friendly powertrain and cutting-edge safety and convenience technologies reveal an exciting future for Hyundai SUV customers.”
Based on Hyundai Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as are Kia’s EV6 and new EV9, Hyundai Seven has an aerodynamically pure silhouette which Hyundai claims to be “instinctively divergent from a typical SUV.”
Seven’s styling is characterised by the low, leading edge of the hood, a single, streamlined roofline, all perched on an elongated wheelbase. Aside from the minimal forms and rugged presence, Seven’s design is accentuated by interesting elements such as wheels that feature integrated Active Air Flaps, which deploy or retract depending on brake-cooling or low-drag requirements, and Ioniq’s signature Parametric Pixel lights that provide a common design thread, linking digital and analogue styles.
Seven’s interior has been designed with autonomous driving in mind with the driver’s seat featuring a retractable control stick that hides away when not in use. The interior of the Seven presents more like lounge thanks to E-GMP’s flat floor which allows for an alternative to traditional row-based seat arrangements.
As seems to be a growing trend, Seven makes use of hygienically-recycled and renewable materials throughout the interior with the advanced Hygiene Airflow System taking inspiration from the sophisticated airflow management of passenger aircrafts. Seven promises fast charging from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 20 minutes when using a 350 kW charger and a target range of over 480 km.
