While Naamsa no longer releases individual model sales to the public, we’ve laid our hands on figures for BMW Group South Africa (including Mini) for December 2020.
For the record, the German group registered a total of 752 units in the passenger-vehicle segment for the month. That puts it 13th on the list of best-selling automotive brands for December, or 11th in the passenger-vehicle rankings.
The 3 Series (187) topped the charts for BMW, with the Rosslyn-built X3 next on 86 units. The 2 Series range (comprising both coupé and Gran Coupé models) followed on 75 units, with the 1 Series (70) close behind.
The X1 (55) was next, ahead of the new 4 Series coupé (35) and the broader 8 Series range (with its 29 units spread between the coupé, convertible and Gran Coupé line-ups). The X5 managed 19 registrations, while the refreshed 5 Series ended December 2020 on 18 units and the X7 on ten units. The X4 (9), X6 (6), i3 (5), Z4 (4), X2 (3) and 7 Series (1) failed to make it out of single figures.
And the Mini brand? Well, the Countryman was the marque’s top seller for the month with 53 units, with the three-door Mini hatch (41) not far behind. The five-door Mini hatchback ended December 2020 on 23 units, while the Clubman managed 20 units. The Mini Convertible (3) brought up the rear.
