We’ll excuse you if you’ve never heard of Cord, the American automobile manufacturer from the late 1920s that closed its doors on two separate occasions in the 1930s due to financial reasons.
But this classic brand is set to be revived thanks to a recent replica law that both DeLorean and AC have already taken advantage of.
The Cord brand is currently owned by Houston-based oil consultant Craig Corbell, who has expressed a desire to create a replica to honour the original founders.
“Until now, it was cost prohibitive to manufacture these cars profitably. But now that expensive high-speed crash-testing, for example, is no longer required to manufacture low runs of replicas, this makes tremendous sense,” said Corbell.
Corbell hasn’t released any further details about his plans, but we suspect his muse will be the 810, with a reveal rumoured to come as early as next year.
