A new report out of Germany says former Bentley CEO Wolfgang Schreiber has filed a lawsuit against the Volkswagen Group seeking compensation for help in developing the brand’s dual-clutch transmission.
German publication Der Spiegel reports that Schreiber has filed a suit in a Munich court, seeking “hundreds of millions of euros” in compensation under German patent law.
Schreiber headed up the German group’s transmission development department between 1996 and 2003, and is widely considered to be the man behind the now-widespread DSG transmission. He later moved over to Bugatti and Bentley.
The report says Schreiber has rejected a €20-million compensation offer from Volkswagen, with the automaker confirming that a dispute was “ongoing”.
