Two versions of the Honda Mobilio have been evaluated in the latest round of crash-tests conducted by Global NCAP in India, with the basic model scoring zero stars for adult occupant protection and a second variant achieving three stars.
The results were released along with the news that the Renault Kwid mustered just one star (read that report here).
According to Global NCAP, the body-shell integrity of the basic version of the Mobilio recorded a “stable” rating (and is thus able to “withstand further loadings”), but the protection offered to the heads of the driver and passenger was “poor”. Their chests, too, received “weak protection”. The result was a score of zero stars for adults, with one star for child occupants.
The second version of the Mobilio adds two airbags, front seatbelt pre-tensioners and seatbelt reminders, but not ABS. In contrast to the basic version, the protection offered to the heads of the driver and passenger was listed as “good”, with driver chest protection deemed “marginal” and the passenger chest protection “adequate”. This second model thus scored three stars for adult occupancy and two for child occupancy.
For the record, the Honda Mobilio offered in South Africa features dual front airbags, front inertia reel seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, and ABS brakes with electronic brake force distribution.
