Jeep announced the discontinuation of the Jeep Gladiator model later this year for the European market after committing to redirecting its efforts towards introducing a trio of new electric vehicles by 2025. To mark the departure of the brute-looking bakkie from Europe, the automaker has unveiled the Gladiator FarOut Final Edition which will be its final hoorah.
The Gladiator FarOut Final Edition is based on the Overland trim and will exclusively offer the diesel engine option with the 3,0-liter V6 diesel capable of 194 kW and 600 N.m. This is transferred to all wheels with an eight-speed automatic transmission, complemented by a 3,73 axle ratio and the Selec-Trac two-speed transfer case. Locally, the bakkie is equipped solely with the Pentastar V6, which is the thirstier and less environmentally friendly of the two powertrains.

Setting the FarOut Final Edition apart from its counterparts are its distinctive features, including 18-inch granite crystal gloss-black aluminium wheels. It boasts Mopar’s three-piece body-colour hardtop, hardtop liner, and black tubular side steps. Additionally, it includes deep tint glass, black freedom fender decals above the wheel arches, and a special metallic FarOut Edition tailgate plaque. The bed is safeguarded by a spray-in liner.
Despite being on offer in Europe since 2021, the premature exit of the Gladiator from the European market makes way for a wave of new offerings. Jeep has ambitious plans to introduce three new electric vehicles – the Avenger, Recon, and Wagoneer-S – by 2025. Jeep’s parent company, Stellantis, envisions transforming the brand into a fully electric entity in Europe by the close of 2030.

For the time being, the lifestyle bakkie will remain on offer in the South African market where it achieves several sales each month to the niche market it accommodates.
