These decreases can further be attributed to a stronger performing rand against the dollar boosted by the Government of National Unity while the average Brent oil price did experience some decreases. It is still too early to determine if these trends will continue for October and potentially the remainder of the year based on the volatility of the oil markets, but should the rand continue to strengthen paired with jitters surrounding US elections, it is possible that further decreases could be on the cards.
In terms of what this translates to in the real world, a petrol-powered vehicle with a 60-litre tank running on Unleaded 95 inland will cost R1 331.40 to brim while a diesel with the same capacity tank running on 50 ppm will cost R1 181.40 to fill.
