Mazda has confirmed that their local SUV flagship; the CX-60, will receive a derivative powered by a 3,3-litre inline-six turbodiesel hybrid motor. Here are all details of the CX-60 Takumi ahead of its arrival in February of 2024.

The CX-60 in currently available in South Africa as one of two derivatives, both powered by a 2,5-litre naturally aspirated inline-four cylinder petrol motor putting out 141 kW and 261 N.m. Serving as a flagship, the SUV comes loaded with features and niceties while buyers can opt for a standard RWD powertrain or AWD for those wanting more off-road capabilities.

Now, Mazda South Africa has confirmed that a 3,3-litre inline-six turbo diesel mild hybrid will be joining the fleet with the CX-60 Takumi. The oil-burning motivated SUV boasts more power and considerably more torque than its standard sibling – 187 kW and 550 N.m are total outputs for the sizable SUV.
Other than the motor, the Takumi is further differentiated by a unique front bumper design, a bar-type piano black grille, a bright metal finish to the front signature wings, side signatures and glazing surrounds, and 20-inch, black metallic, diamond-cut machined alloy wheels.
According to Craig Roberts, MD of Mazda Southern Africa, “The CX-60 is a brilliant SUV in any derivative, and we are thrilled to be adding the Takumi to our local range.”
The CX-60 Takumi is expected to join Mazda’s local lineup in South Africa in February 2024. Pricing and more detailed specification will be revealed closer to the time however this diesel-powered model will more than likely flirt with a million Rand based on the current pricing of the lineup in South Africa.
