As of 2017, McLaren’s catalogue of cars has been the biggest offering the boutique British supercar manufacturer has ever provided. As a result of this, the brand has just revealed 2017 to be its most successful year to date.
Over the past 12 months McLaren has confirmed a global sales figure of 3 340 units which isn’t that far off from the 3 286 units sold in 2016 but still a record nonetheless. A lot of this success is credited to the 720S which sold more in the past six months than the 650S did it the whole of 2016.
McLaren’s top seller remained the Sports Series cars which consist of the 570S Coupe and Spider, 570GT and 540C. 2 119 of these found new owners in the past year. The remaining 1 221 cars consisted of the 720S but McLaren is willing to bet that this car will contribute to 50% of its sales by the end of this year. Although all of the McLaren Senna units have been sold, these will only be recorded for 2018 once those cars have been delivered.
McLaren’s biggest market remained North America which consisted of 37% of its sales.
12 more cars are set to be launched by 2022 which includes the new three-seater P1 replacement currently codenamed the BP23.
