Mitsubishi plans to launch these new vehicles in South Africa in 2020…

Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has confirmed its product plans for 2020, announcing it intends to launch four new or refreshed models locally during the year.

The Japanese firm’s local arm says it will present the facelifted ASX and refreshed Pajero Sport to the South African market in the “first part of the year”.

The new Xpander Cross has also been pencilled in for a local introduction, with the distinctively styled “crossover MPV” set to do battle with the likes of the Toyota Rush and Honda BR-V.

Then there’s the return of the Mirage nameplate, with a facelifted version of the budget hatchback set to arrive later in the year (or possibly early in 2021). As a reminder, the Mirage quietly exited South Africa in 2017.

And, of course, we’ve already shared pricing for the new turbocharged 1,5-litre model in the company’s Eclipse Cross range.

Nic Campbell, general manager of Mitsubishi Motors SA, said the firm had “high hopes for a positive turn in the market”, adding it was “already experiencing traction of our evolving brand”.
